「ダークネス2」は、トップ・カウ・プロダクションによる米国の人気コミックを原案にした、主人公「ジャッキー・エスタカード」の悲劇的な物語が展開されるFPSだ。
プレイヤーは、銃などの武器だけでなく、敵を切る、つかむ、投げるといった強力なアクションを使い戦闘を行う。両手に持った武器での攻撃も可能だ。
また、4人での協力プレイが可能なVendettaモードも搭載。本編の裏で巻き起こるヒットマンと戦闘員の抗争を体験できる。
