「Windbound」は、狩り、探索、クラフティングをベースとした第三者視点のローグライク・サバイバルアドベンチャーRPG。プレイヤーは未知の島に座礁した主人公カーラとして、島の環境に適応しながら生き残る術を学び、遠い昔に忘れ去られた島々の秘密を解き明かしていく。
サバイバルゲームの新境地を開拓した本作では、プレイヤーは放浪と狩り、探索に加え、自ら作り上げた船で海を渡る。プロシージャ生成で創出される世界に、動的な野生動物、モジュラーボート作成により、何度プレイしても飽きないリプレイアビリティが実現されている。
