ソニー・インタラクティブエンタテインメントは、PS5/PS4用ソフト「グランツーリスモ7」について、公式世界大会「グランツーリスモ ワールドシリーズ 2025」（GTWS 2025）を開催することを決定し、あわせて大会概要を公開した。
国・地域に分かれて勝負を競う「ネイションズカップ」と、プレイヤーが選んだ自動車メーカーとドライバー契約を結び、他の自動車メーカーとの間で勝利を争う「マニュファクチャラーズカップ」それぞれ上位の選手はロンドン、ベルリン、ロサンゼルスで開催されるライブイベントを経て、12月に福岡で開かれる「ワールドファイナル」で最終決戦に臨むことになる。
